For a long time, “corporate photography” had a bit of a reputation.

You know the kind of thing - stiff poses, forced smiles, everyone lined up against a plain background looking slightly uncomfortable.

Thankfully, business photography has moved on.

These days, people want to see the real humans behind a business. And the smart marketeers know this. Potential clients want to get a sense of your personality, your values and what it actually feels like to work with you before they even send an enquiry.

That’s exactly why Corporate Lifestyle Photography has become so popular.

As a Corporate Lifestyle Photographer working across Surrey and London, I work with businesses to create natural, relaxed imagery that feels genuine - both to you the client and the subject of the image, but also the person looking at the images on a website, your potential clients. Less headshots that look like the person in the photo would rather be having a root canal, and more capturing the real energy, people and personality behind a brand.

Because the truth is, your photography says a huge amount about your business... and people connect with authenticity far more than perfection.

So… what actually is Corporate Lifestyle Photography?

Corporate lifestyle photography is essentially a more natural, story-led approach to business photography.

It’s about capturing people in a way that feels real, and looks real. And that's because with the way that I work, it IS real, but still you and you team on your best day, in the best way.

That could mean caputuring chats over coffee, collaborating in a meeting room, welcoming clients, laughing in the open plan office between meetings, or simply creating relaxed portraits in the corridor that feel warm and approachable rather than overly formal.

It’s the kind of imagery that helps people instantly get a feel for your business: Not just what you do — but who you are.

For many businesses in Surrey and London, that feels much more aligned with how they want to show up now. Professional, yes — but also human.

It’s not about looking “corporate”

One of the things I hear most often from clients before a shoot is “We’re really awkward in photos.”

Honestly? 99% of my new clients say that. But I believe that is more about how you feel having your photograph taken, the experience you have, that is what will come across in the images. Very few people are naturally comfortable the moment a camera appears, especially in a work setting. That’s why my approach is always very relaxed and unobtrusive, and I’m not trying to create perfectly posed, overly polished images that don’t feel like you.

Instead, I focus on helping people feel comfortable enough that natural moments can happen. Often, the best images come in-between the “official” moments anyway — the conversations, the laughter, the little interactions that show real connection.

Those are the images that make businesses feel approachable and trustworthy.

And about as far away from generic white-background corporate photography as we can get!

Why businesses are moving towards more authentic photography

We all spend so much time online now that your website and social media often form someone’s first impression of your business.

And people are becoming incredibly good at spotting imagery that feels generic or staged.

Or more importantly and worryingly, imagery that doesn't quite look real. Probably because it isn't. Which can be VERY damaging to a brand's trustworthiness.

Businesses are increasingly looking for photography that feels honest, modern and relatable, and imagery that reflects the actual experience of working with them.

Corporate Lifestyle Photography gives you a bank of images that can be used across:

  • your website

  • LinkedIn

  • social media

  • PR and marketing

  • recruitment

  • presentations and proposals

But more importantly, it helps your business feel personal, allowing your potential clients to connect with the humans behind your brand.

Whether you’re a small independent brand or a larger company, people still buy from people.

Very little awkward posing, for a start.

Following our pre-shoot planning meeting, we have a list of scenarios and photographs ready to go from the moment that I arrive; those needing headshots, teams working together, people working in their departments or facilities, often showing the side of the business that only in-person clients see.

Most sessions are actually far more relaxed than people expect. I’ll usually give gentle direction where needed, but I’m also constantly watching for natural moments unfolding on their own.

Sometimes we’ll recreate a real meeting or conversation, sometimes I’ll simply document your team as they work and interact naturally.

I work on location across Surrey and London, whether that’s in your office, a co-working space, outdoors, or somewhere that reflects your brand and personality.

And because I know most businesses are busy, I always try to make the process feel easy, efficient and low-pressure.

The goal isn’t to make you look like models.

It’s to create imagery that genuinely feels like your business at its best : natural, confident and approachable. The kind of photographs that actually feel like you, that your team feel proud to use, and that become invaluable across your website, social media, PR and marketing for years to come.

A secure online gallery is sent to you after your session, and images you choose are then finished to a high standard and ready to use for any purpose - online or print (from small to billboard size!) - and include usage in perpetuity.

Often, clients tell me afterwards that they only wish they’d done it sooner!

Honestly? Almost any modern business.

I work with all sorts of brands and teams, from creative businesses and consultants to schools, wellness brands and professional services.

Some people come to me because their website imagery feels outdated. Others are rebranding, growing their team, refreshing LinkedIn profiles, or simply want photography that feels more aligned with who they are now.

Often, they just want images that feel less staged and more like real life. You, but on your best day.

I photograph businesses across Surrey, London and the surrounding areas, creating natural business imagery that feels warm, modern and authentic. Recent commissions in the last few weeks have included brands in Alton, Reigate, Nutfield, Westminster, Godstone, Betchworth, Cranleigh and Godstone.

For me, the most important thing is always capturing the real essence of the people behind a business. The personality, the atmosphere, the connection within a team... all the things that make a brand feel memorable and human.

Because great business photography shouldn’t just show what your company looks like.

It should help people feel a connection to your business too, a reason to reach out and enquire.

If your business imagery feels outdated, overly corporate, or simply doesn’t reflect who you are anymore, corporate lifestyle photography can completely change how people connect with your brand.

I’d love to help tell your story. Click here to get in touch, and together let’s show the world just how brilliant your brand really is.

With love, Rachel xx
