Behind the scenes on a Toddler Lifestyle Portrait Session... with Dog!

Last month I had the pleasure of capturing this gorgeous little guy, who has just turned the very important age of One! His parents wanted to have a portrait session to mark the occasion, and now that it's getting a bit colder, indoor sessions are a great option with the littlies.

Before my portrait sessions, I always like to sit down with parents and find out more about the children, what they love, what makes them tick. I ask about beloved toys, books, games and try and involve those in the session to help little ones feel comfortable in front of the camera. In this case, this chappy's favourite buddy is... his dog!

A toddler and a dog, what could go wrong?! Undaunted, we made quite a detailed shoot plan, just in case we needed new ideas at short notice to keep them both engaged and involved.

T was an absolute poppet to work with, completely undeterred by multiple outfit changes he carried on around the house just as if my camera and I weren't there, even quite happy to play peekaboo in an empty bath... He was especially interested in the pond - don't worry, his Mum is there hiding ready to grab him! We managed pretty much everything on our plan list, and even a few extras, and the result is a wonderful collection of photographs that captures the essence of his world right now.

With permission from his family, here's a few photographs from the collection, and a Luxury Infinity Coffee Table book and framed Clarity print are on order. I'll show you those when they arrive.

Happy Thursday!
