Kids Location Mini Sessions

Capture your littlest loved ones

with beautiful â€‹ Kids Location Portraits in the Surrey & Sussex Hills

A few weeks ago, I took my two boys out for a photoshoot. This isn’t a common occurrence, far from it, as photographer’s children my two are really over having their photograph taken! Even immune perhaps… but Benji needed some new acting headshots, and with Andy away for the weekend, we had the chance to get out and play for a few hours.

I often shoot on location in Reigate, with the mix of historical features and modern architecture, it offers so much scope for us to play with, creating lots of different types of image. With Benji, I knew I wanted to show a variety of styles, and fuelled on milky drinks, the boys happily obliged.

It wasn’t until we got home and I was editing the images that I realised, these were as valuable to me as a Mum, and us as a family, as they were for Benji’s career. I’d captured an afternoon in time, treating my boys the very way I do my clients, encouraging the glint in their eyes, and the fun and magic in their mannerisms. And the best bit? They came away with a bounce in their step, having seen the images I created on the screen on the back of my camera. Helping to build their confidence with someone genuinely interested in what they had to say, at a time in their lives when often their confidence needs a little bit of encouragement. Well, perhaps not Benji’s, but that is a blog post for another day!

So this Spring, I’m putting a new type of shoot onto my schedule. Kids Location Portrait Sessions. An hour on location portrait session, for up to 3 children, and can include a sneaky shot with a parent or two! Sessions cost £125 and include a 10x8” signed mounted print and matching digital, with the option to purchase framed wall art, prints or albums should you wish.

Talking of gifts, vouchers for these type of sessions are available, which make perfect presents. Valid for 6 months, this will allow us to run into the graduation season, the perfect way to capture these wonderful young people before they head onto their next adventures!

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these sessions right for me and my children?

These sessions are perfect for you if you want a seasonally themed update to your child(ren's) portraits. After our time together you will have a selection of images from which to choose your favourites, to be displayed on your walls or in a storybook album. These sessions are half the time of my standard sessions, so they can fit in around a busy weekend or school holiday.

What happens if the weather on the day is bad?

Every outdoor session has a back up day which I ask you to hold in your diary. I watch the forecast carefully, the days beforehand, and I’m in touch with you the night before to confirm we’re going ahead. If the weather forecast is averse, we may well call it at that point and go to our back up day, but otherwise we’ll meet as planned. If during the session the weather turns, we’ll call it and reconvene on our back up day. I don’t expect my Clients to be happy shooting in drizzle or rain, so we won’t, don’t worry!

Can I bring them an outfit change?

With these sessions, due to the time limits I suggest you stick to one outfit, but if the weather allows we can remove jumpers, coat, cardigans etc. If you’d like a longer session, I’d recommend a standard portrait session with me where we have much more flexibility for outfit changes.

Can I buy digital files?

Any framed prints, wall art or storybook albums you purchase will come with the corresponding digital file, free of charge. Digital files are not available to purchase separately, as they are never intended to be the finished product, but separate mounted gift prints are available to buy alongside a frame or album. Where exactly do we shoot?

The each session will have a set location, which will vary according to the time of year. All Sessions are held at a place of beauty and photographs will be captured within easy walking distance of a car park. Actual locations vary depending on the time of day, and I always choose places for the best light we have. We will shoot at several locations, so suitable footwear is recommended. At times the site can be busy, but I’m very aware of this and choose areas that are less frequented to help you feel comfortable during our time together.

When can we see our images?

At your session I will confirm to you your Viewing Appointment time, usually within 2 weeks. I come to you in your home and present to you your images, along with samples of all of the products that I offer. Here is some more information about What to Expect from your time with me.
